Safe Software Hiring for Python Software Developer Intern (September 2022) at Surrey, BC Full Time

Safe Software is looking for a Python Software Developer Intern to join our Integrations development team. This is a four-month, full-time placement with opportunity for extension.

Our student internships have the opportunity to be fully remote in Canada or hybrid/on-premise at our office based in Surrey, BC, Canada. If working remotely, it is preferred for the student to be available during Pacific Standard Time work hours to ensure that they receive the best support from the Integrations team.

About The Team

The Integrations Team works to optimize the use of open source and commercial third-party components in our desktop, server, cloud-based, and mobile applications. Some of the team’s primary focus areas are to: manage our third-party component usage to protect our source code and reputation, enable legal compliance, and reduce security vulnerabilities through issue identification and remediation.

As a student intern with the team, you will help to ensure that over 600 third-party components are secure, relevant, and updated. This is an excellent opportunity to explore a career in product security and development.

You’ll receive a computer with the peripherals you need to set up your at-home workstation, along with some new hire swag (of course). Throughout your work term, you’ll find a number of virtual activities to join like virtual coffee chats or team building games to get to know other Safers!

As a Python Software Developer Intern, you’ll have the opportunity to:

Maintain software at scale, building scripts to automate and simplify large tasks.

Obtain an insider’s view into the world of software compliance and security vulnerabilities.

Apply and extend your git skills in a software company with over 20 years of version control.

Receive feedback in a safe environment from your team-mates on how to write efficient and maintainable code.

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies

Safe Software evaluates applicants based on their passion and skill with technology. That said, having experience with some of the following areas is an asset.

Programming in Python.

Experience with Git.

Experience using IDEs for software development.

You’re able to work well with minimal supervision in a remote team environment, and are motivated to learn new technologies and skills.

Previous Co-op or related experience.
