We are recruiting two finance assistant roles within the Sciences Finance Faculty as follows:

Role

The focus of the Faculty Finance Assistant role will be to provide operational finance support for a department within the sciences faculty, under the supervision of the department’s Management Accountant. The post holder will benefit from interaction with the wider finance department (payments, payroll, fees office etc.) but will also work collaboratively with academic staff and other support colleagues with the department.

The main duties of the roles include:

• Acting as a point of contact and responding to a wide range of financial enquiries from staff, the Finance Department, external suppliers and credit card companies
• Monitoring and processing departmental income, expenditure and payments across a wide range of departmental accounts
• Providing support to the faculty management accounting team, including completing accruals and prepayment templates
• Maintaining and auditable financial filing system, accurately recording and processing financial transactions

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

• A finance qualification (e.g. AAT) is desirable but not essential
• You will be customer-focussed, wanting to provide an excellent service to colleagues
• You will be able to maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, whilst also ensuring the department’s compliance with financial regulations
• You will be able to communicate policies and procedures clearly

Experience of Higher Education is not a prerequisite and we are interested in hearing from candidates outside the sector. The University is currently working to a mixed home and campus-based working model with a minimum of two days spent on campus (pro rata for part-time staff). Appropriate IT equipment will be provided to facilitate this working arrangement.
