Vacancy: Civil Design Engineer

Boyd Recruitment are currently recruiting a Civil Design Engineer on a permanent basis for an independently owned multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy in Glasgow.

Our client has operated across several markets for over 40 years and offer full in-house design services to the commercial, leisure, manufacturing, and education sectors.

They are open to hybrid working arrangements and are committed to helping their staff progress their career in a professional and academic capacity.

The Job

As a Civil Design Engineer your duties will be as follows:

• Designing drainage using SuDs principles
• Use MicroDrainage design software to create drainage networks
• Experience in using design software related to Civils’ design such as Civils3D or PDS
• Undertake civil engineering design calculations, report writing and sketches
• Adhering to regulations and liaising with end clients such as councils, local authorities, and government bodies.
• Attend site and design team meetings
• Carry out infrastructure design to comply with the relevant Building Regulations

The person

The ideal candidate for the Civil Design Engineer role will have the following:

• You will be BEng, MEng or MSc qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
• You will have 3+ years’ experience of civils design
• Responsibility for developing preliminary and detailed designs, supported senior team members
• Have the ability to work to tight timescales and manage multiple projects at once
• Be committed to further professional development through Learning and development programme, supporting your career progression towards Chartered Engineer status
• Experience/understanding of all stages of the design and construction process
