HCF and rt health have entered into a Merger Implementation Deed and submitted an application to the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) to approve the merger. APRA is the government prudential body responsible for all private health insurers.

About the role

To perform daily accounts reconciliation, monthly reconciliations, operational expenses, fixed assets and associated accounting functions.

Key responsibilities

• Complete the monthly reconciliations assigned to audit standard
• Weekly HAMBS Bank Reconciliations with action items to all reconciling items
• Weekly HAMBS downloads and journals
• Update the fixed assets register
• Prepare the year end annual report for Transport Health Pty Limited
• Work with the external auditors to complete the year end
• Ensure the monthly operational expenses are complete and in the appropriate cost centres
• Owner of the prepayments register and the accruals register
• Complete the quarterly APRA return for Transport Health Pty Limited
• Process monthly journals in Concur as required by the Financial Controller.
• Liaise with staff in relation to variances found on a daily basis e.g. bank/debtors differences.
• Assist with the year end audit process as directed by the Financial Controller.
• Assist the Internal Auditor as required
• Assist in the transition to HCF
• Support continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide back up to the Senior Financial Accountant when necessary.
• Perform other related duties as directed by the Financial Controller.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following qualifications, experience and skills:

• Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting
• 1 years’ experience in Accounts Payable processing and payment
• 3 years’ experience in a junior accounting position
• Experience in insurance/financial services industry preferred but not essential
• Sound planning and organisational skills
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills and ability to comfortably communicate issues/queries with non-Finance staff
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact and discretion when dealing with people
• Excellent time management skills
• Proficient PC skills, including the strong use of Microsoft Office
• High levels of motivation, with a positive and enthusiastic nature
