Software Tester/QA Analyst

My client is seeking a Software Tester/Analyst. This role sits within the systems technical development team.
The Software Tester will be working with the development team to carry out sufficient testing, proving any new product enhancement or defect fix is ready for release; the quality of the product being the main objective.
The Software Tester should be a self-motivated tester who is analytical, self-driven whilst turning requirements into achievable test criteria. This role be working with developers, BAs and project teams to understand the deliverables and will at times also act as the link between the users and development teams involved with systems improvements and deployments.
This position would be ideal for a product tester who has significant experience working with users and an internal development team, delivering high-quality projects to time. We need someone who is a critical thinker, curious about our business and the solutions we provide. Happy to ask questions to fulfil that curiosity and go the extra mile when necessary.
Experience of writing, managing, running tests, mainly manual, some automated.
Have demonstrable experience of using the following tests:
Integration
Regression
Negative
Smoke
Acceptance
For all the following types of tests; example, integration, regression, negative, smoke and acceptance tests.
Experience of automated test tools eg Testbench, Test Director or similar.
Experience in manual testing of complex software systems (including Financial) during development and support.
Experience in manual testing of new and Legacy systems.
Experience in managing defects/bugs using leading tools.
Experience in writing test plans, executing them, analysing results and preparing relevant reports.
Experience with issue or bug tracking systems (eg TRAC).
The successful candidate should:
Have solid experience in the specification and testing of web and desktop software systems with a relational database and web services.
Main Responsibilities:
Report status and progress to IT management and the Release Manager on a weekly basis.
Create test plans and automated test suites, using a test-first approach to create automated unit, integration, acceptance and performance tests.
Document test processes and ensure they are up-to-date and available to view.
Obtain requirements so that appropriate test are created. This might be achieved by working with users and/or developers to plan functional testing.
Undertake appropriate manual testing tasks and test execution.
Record and analyse test results, then generate issue reports and raise bugs.
Report test progress and other key information.
Collaborate with product owners to establish acceptance criteria for user stories.
Prioritise, monitor and track issues using a tracking system such as Trac, and conduct re-tests after issues are resolved.
Collaborate with and provide guidance to developers towards creating more testable and robust code.
Assist in the definition of non-functional requirements; such as performance, usability and business efficiency by developing and executing tests to verify systems meet those requirements.
Ensure highest quality and confidence leading up to product release.
Assist in the product release process and support the Systems support team with all changes to our bespoke software.

Salary: £27,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
