RECEPTIONIST, LE COMMANDANT CHARCOT

We are looking for a native English-speaking receptionist for PONANT ships, preferably from the United States, to fulfill a five-month contract in the Arctic on our newest polar exploration vessel, Le Commandant Charcot. He/she will have the incredible opportunity to go where few have ever traveled before — the geographic North Pole, Greenland, Svalbard, and the Northwest Passage.

Position Summary / Essential Functions

• Provide the highest level of service in a pro-active, prompt, friendly and professional manner;
• Facilitate arrival and departures for guests;
• Ensure guest requests are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner and appropriate follow-up is carried out;
• Develop operational knowledge of front desk operations, including the switchboard system to ensure superior telephone service;
• Follow up on inquiries, complaints and maintenance issues and log information accordingly;
• Assist in the coordination of foreign language translations;
• Prepare invitations, gift orders, personalized letters, boarding passes and guest keys;
• Responsible for guest manifest printing, distribution and updating;
• Evaluation feedback data entry;
• Ensure daily programs and printed materials are delivered and available at all times;
• Manage guest shipboard accounts, including obtaining method of payment, shipboard credit and account discrepancies;
• Assist, where necessary, in training new reception staff in front office operations;
• Participate in crew and passenger safety drills;
• Comply with Front Office meeting minutes and decisions, as well as company safety and sustainability regulations;
• Perform all other duties as requested by Front Office leadership;

Background / Requirements

• Native English speaker with the ability to speak, read and write English clearly and distinctly
• Ability to speak French
• Minimum of 12 months experience in reception with a luxury branded cruise line, hotel, or resort
• Microsoft Office Suite and job-related computer software (Fidelio, Opera, Concierge Assist, or Fidelio Cruise)
• Understanding of the highest level of service
• Superior administration skills
