Position Overview
REVs Online Course Instructors guide student-driven learning by providing relevant and meaningful instruction to a group of students who have no speech or unreliable verbal speech and use a form of alternative communication. Pay is a flat rate per course with bonuses possible for hitting enrollment targets. This position would involve on-boarding during Spring 2022 with a teaching commitment beginning in Summer 2022.

Specific Responsibilities of the Job
Under the supervision of the Director, teachers will lead six, one hour online classes per session with autistic students. Teachers will collaborate with the Director to plan each session’s topic and lessons. The teacher must be flexible, respectful of all students and their communication partners, and open to feedback from students and the Director. While the Director will provide guidance toward lesson structure and topic selection, the teacher will be responsible for creation of a lesson plan, class questions, and slides.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates should have prior experience working with individuals with disabilities. While experience with Facilitated Communication, and other Augmentative & Alternative Communication methods are preferred, it is not strictly required; however, an openness to learn about alternative communication is strictly required.
Candidates must be responsible for lesson planning and punctuality; respectful to all students, communication partners and families; and comfortable leading a group composed of students of varying ages and communicative abilities. Knowledge of differentiating instruction and best teaching practices are preferred. Prior teaching experience, especially including virtual group instruction, is preferred but not required for otherwise qualified candidates. Preference will be given to those with teaching certifications. These requirements are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skill, and ability required to perform this job.
