We are recruiting for a Finance Officer to join the Community Justice Division. In this interesting and varied role you will be busy, and you will need to be able to plan, organise and prioritise your work to meet agreed deadlines and provide appropriate support while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy. You should be able to work using your own initiative, have a positive attitude to change and be able to adapt to new procedures and priorities.?
The Community Justice Division is responsible for a range of policies and approaches which are focused on reducing reoffending. This includes reducing the use of imprisonment through greater use of community sentences and other interventions; working with the Scottish Prison Service and other partners to ensure that rehabilitation opportunities are available for those who receive a custodial sentence; and supporting the successful reintegration of people leaving prison.
The Community Justice Division is a high profile division of approximately 40 people, split into four Units. You will work within the Business Support, Finance and Sponsorship team which sits within the Community Interventions, Finance and Sponsorship Unit.
Essential Criteria:
1. Strong numeracy skills and a basic understanding of financial management, accounting and budgeting coupled with experience of Microsoft applications.
2. Proven ability to work on your own initiative, to deliver high quality outcomes and outputs and to meet deadlines whilst managing competing pressures.
3. Good communication skills, both written and oral, with a proven ability to explain both financial and non-financial information effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
4. The ability to interrogate financial and management information and use evidence in order to draw out key messages.
