Fiscal Director – Job Description

Position: Fiscal Director

Pay Range: $42.41-$56.88

Job Type: Full-time, salary, exempt, able to work remotely

Job Description: Ensures effective fiscal operations and performance through policy, guidance, and direct support. Safeguards and maximizes the organization’s fiscal resources, creates a fiscal environment which supports the mission and values of the organization, and ensures success of the agency through active participation as a member of the senior leadership team. This is a non-mandated reporter position. Supervises Grant Manager and Accounting & Payroll Specialist. Reports to Executive Director.

Qualifications:

Required:

At least 5 years of progressively responsible successful experience in financial administration or accounting supervision BA/BS in business, accounting, finance, or related field

• Experience in working with government guidelines and regulations
• Proven experience in producing and maintaining accurate financial records including preparation of government audit.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and federal and state legislation affecting non-profits
• Ability to perform a wide range of accounting tasks including general bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, project/grant management, auditing, and human resource management
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Software and QuickBooks. Ability to quickly learn agency specific software including client-based software, scheduling software, and payroll software
• Ability to translate financial concepts to and effectively collaborate with programmatic and fundraising colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds

• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation
• Ability to effectively supervise and evaluate others, manage a team, and collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors.

• A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization, and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
• The ability to work well under pressure and deal appropriately with crisis and stress situations
• Conduct, appearance, and work performance of professional quality
• Willing to work evenings and weekends
• Willing to undergo live scan background check

Prefer:

• Perform other duties as assigned
• Responsible for immediate, short-term, and long-term fiscal solvency of the agency through management of organizational cash flow and forecasting. Maximize income where possible and appropriate.
• Effectively communicate and present financial matters to the Board of Directors in monthly Board meetings through written report and verbal participation in the meeting.
• Monitor organizational cash flow and budget changes including grant modifications and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status through monthly reports.
• Recruit, supervise, and evaluate assigned fiscal staff, consultants, and contractors.
• Provide leadership and oversee the day to day operations of the agency in the absence of the Executive Director.
• Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including charitable status, taxes, and SAM and DUNS numbers.
• Prepare for and assist with organizational audits, promptly respond to audits findings, and prepare and submit all related reports.
• Maintain agency fiscal records and payroll personnel files up to date, organized, and secure according to law and agency policy and procedure.
• Oversee the management of all leases, contracts, and other financial commitments.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with donors, state coalitions, grantors, contractors, and community partners.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Other:

• May be required to work some weekend, evening, night, and holiday hours. Possible Call-back. Should be available to fill in for all shifts within the agency for vacations, illnesses, etc. plus crisis situations.
• Some conferences and continuing education programs that may be out-of-town.
