Engineering Estimator
Salary £25,000.00 to £30,000.00
Location: Sheffield

Due to the continued success and growth of the business they are now seeking an Engineering Estimator to join their well established company. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an industry leader where you can grow and develop with the business.
THE ROLE:
As the Engineering Estimator you will be responsible for reviewing contract documents and specifications.
Logging and reviewing quoting enquiries for bearings, and compiling cost assessments for products and services.
Compile bids for work.
Calculate the cost of materials, transport, labour, and equipment hire.
Obtain quotes for all predicted requirements from sub-contractors and suppliers.
Prepare and submit quotations for work.
Collate detailed price lists of everything needed on each construction project.
Clarify the client’s needs and expectations.
Engage with and ultimately demonstrate to customers, that a product and/or service best satisfies their needs in terms of quality, price, functionality, and delivery.
Read blueprints and take measurements.
Assess and adhere to all risk assessments and health and safety requirements.
Keep up to date with inflation, exchange rates and projected timescale costs.
Visit to proposed construction sites.
Develop long-term relationships with clients; manage and interpret their requirements.
Present bids to clients and answer their questions.
Complete work quality submissions.
Complete financial analysis where applicable.
Liaise regularly with other members of the Sales, Site Services, planners, Design teams and colleagues from a range of departments.
Working hours of Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm.
THE CANDIDATE:
Educated to Degree level in Mechanical Engineering.
Approximately 3 – 5 years’ experience is needed to perform the job at a competent level.
Solid background in Mechanical/Construction Engineering.
Ability to display sound judgement and business acumen.
Knowledge of bridge/construction industry/bridge bearings, expansion joints (desirable).
Proven understanding of structural movement and large civil engineering projects, specifically bridges.
Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
Knowledge of specialist sub-contract trades.
Proven experience of, and can demonstrate excellent technical skills.
