NOTE: We will be reviewing applications as of 18/04/22.
Britcent is an English education consultancy based in London (although we are currently solely working from home). We offer a variety of services such as online 1-to-1 ESL lessons for adults (General English, Academic Writing, IELTS, Cambridge Exams, and Business English), as well as editing and translation services. We strive to provide top quality services to students and professionals alike who need help with their English for social, academic or business purposes.
What sets us apart from other similar institutions is that we use social media and technology to teach our students and produce lots of our own English learning content, such as Youtube videos, audiobooks, podcasts, Instagram/Facebook content and many more. Check out our videos on https://www.youtube.com/c/britcentuk/videos.
We’ve been operating for over 7 years and the company is continuing to grow rapidly. We are therefore looking for two freelance ESL tutors to join our growing team.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
– a UK university degree (preferably in a relevant subject)
– a CELTA (120 hours +)/DELTA /DipTESOL/PGCE
– a minimum of 3 years’ experience of teaching ESL to adults
– good IT skills (using Zoom, G Drive, Google Docs)
– a clear British accent
– a positive attitude, plenty of patience, and very good communication skills
– a desire to teach long-term and commit to a fixed timetable
We are looking for someone who can commit to teaching 25-30 hours a week, the number of hours being dependent on performance.
The hourly rate is between £14-£18, depending on experience, interview performance and commitment. This rate can increase over time.
Based on performance and commitment to the company long-term, successful candidates may later be offered employment contracts that have the expected benefits of paid annual leave, pension schemes, taking other roles and, most importantly, stability.
Why work for Britcent?
At Britcent, we consider our tutors’ welfare to be as important as our students’. This is shown through regular communication between management staff and tutors, and we constantly work on our company policies in favour of the tutors. Other benefits include fortnightly CPD sessions, regular training, office equipment allowance, online (and sometimes offline!) office socials, and the flexibility of working from home. We are quite different to traditional language schools, not only as we do everything online, but as tutors can be given other responsibilities apart from teaching, such as teacher training, creating online learning content, and HR.
