About the role

We are currently looking to appoint a Cost Accountant to support the Financial Controller and provide analysis of the cost and production performance of the Liberty Bell Bay operations. This is a chance for you to bring your proven analysis skills and showcase your ability to challenge the norm and identify cost saving initiatives and improve operational effectiveness across the site.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Working with Departmental Managers to identify any performance issues and work with them on initiatives to get the most out of their assets
• Own and maintain the cost ledger including managing the accountability and ultimate cost centres in aligned hierarchies to facilitate all reporting with minimal manual intervention
• Generate month end reports of production cost accumulation and makes all adjustments to allocations of costs to ensure accuracy
• Prepare and distribute monthly cost reports and runs all variance analysis
• Works with internal customers to ensure accurate linkages of costs to accountability and ultimate cost centres
• Provide recommendations to the financial controller for approval all changes to cost hierarchies
• Provide all departmental level cost input into the “furnace sheets”.

About your experience

You will be someone who has strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills who enjoys working in a fast paced, flexible environment. You are also curious, resourceful and have strong communications skills to be able to work effectively in a cross functional team at all levels of the organisation. You will also have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance or Accounting
• Accounting profession accreditation is an advantage but not essential
• Strong financial and business acumen
• Advanced excel skills
• Experience using SAP and business improvement tools would be desirable
• Experience in manufacturing or heavy industry is an advantage but not essential
• Proven skills with information systems, dashboards, reporting and monitoring performance
