Summary
Historic England have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as our Financial Controller. We need you to join us in delivering excellent shared services, promoting and supporting effective financial control, process improvement and inputting key business critical projects. You will have the immediate opportunity to drive improvement and influence change in our procure to pay cycle, as well as aligning our wider transactional and accounting practices with government’s best practice Global Finance Design Principles.
What you will be doing:
We need you to be responsible for making sure all accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and payments are carried out in a timely manner and robust controls are in place. You will lead on monthly production of payroll, ensuring it is accurate and reconciled.
You will take a valuable role in leading the annual statutory accounts process ensuring all accounts are delivered on time and to a high standard and attend Audit and Risk Assurance Committee, acting as lead contact for external audit.
You will ensure the timely production of tax returns, e.g. VAT as well as PAYE and other payroll deductions, acting as the lead contact for HMRC, particularly in regard to the management of complex negotiations (e.g. partial exemption). You will be responsible for ensuring financial accounting and treasury management processes are carried out accurately and completely, in an effective and efficient manner and are supported by robust controls.
As we are part of a Shared Services operation you will lead on the delivery of excellent transactional and technical shared services to customers; meeting KPIs, supporting continuous improvement and ensuring a high-quality customer-focused service is provided, developing robust and effective relationships with customers.
In this role you will manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Senior Manager, Payroll Senior Manager and Senior Financial Accountant. You will inspire, train and develop colleagues and work closely with HR on all people matters.
