Overview:

The Director of Athletics of Highland Prep Academies oversees all aspects of the athletic program at all three system high schools. This includes the hiring of staff and coaches, ordering equipment for teams, and promoting events, matches, and meets. The Director of Athletics must be highly skilled in budgeting and allocating funds and facilitating all athletic operations, including facility management both on and off site. The Director of Athletics should be well-versed in AIA by-laws and attend all mandatory AIA training and Athletic Director requirements.

Responsibilities:

The Director of Athletics is responsible for:

• Hiring of staff and coaches, including completion of all personnel onboarding paperwork

• Vetting volunteers, including background checks and all onboarding paperwork

• Ordering equipment for athletic teams

• Overseeing fundraising endeavors

• Ensuring appropriate supervision of all sporting-related activities and events

• Supervising all athletic personnel and resolving all administrative issues/concerns

• Scheduling games, contests, and events

• Scheduling practices

• Securing appropriate facilities for all games, contests, and practices

• Updating athletic handbook and ensuring all policies and practices are in alignment with current AIA by-laws

• Scheduling all transportation for games, contests, and events

• Budgeting and allocating athletic funds

• Working collaboratively with various booster clubs to ensure appropriate fundraising and money-handling procedures are followed in alignment with business office protocols

Prior Education/Experience:

Prior experience as an Athletic Director preferred; prior experience coaching high school athletics and/or serving in an administrative role on a high school campus highly desired.

Additional Requirements:

• Qualified candidates must possess or obtain valid Arizona Department of Public Safety fingerprint clearance card.
• Travel required both inside and outside of the Phoenix Metro area. Must have reliable transportation and ability to work evenings/weekends.

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a salaried position and is eligible for benefits offered by the school, including: health, dental, vision, and 403b with automatic 5% employer contribution. Salary is competitive and based on years of experience in similar position.

Anticipated Salary:

Commensurate with experience. Starting salary of $65,000/year.
