Senior Accountant
Summary
Senior Accountants work within the Finance and Accounting team and are responsible for statutory accounting, treasury, and financial analysis for contracts, programs, projects, and legal entities. They have a strong knowledge of accounting principles including GAAP, revenue recognition, and matching principles. Senior Accountants have strong reconciliation skills and assist with Audits and Taxes. They work directly with CFOs, controllers, other executive-level team members, regional leaders, project/program managers, and operational clerks to account for, control, monitor, analyze and report financial information.
Senior Accountants leverage strong accounting and compliance backgrounds to explore historical financial data and drive process and policy improvements.
Senior Accountants report to the Controller or his/her designee.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Monthly recurring accounting entries
· Compile and enter monthly accruals
· Revenue recognition – EAC, ETBAR, Cost Plus, % Complete, & T&M
· Reconciliation of balance sheet including prepaids, deposits, interest, AP/expense accruals, AR, unbilled, etc.
· Reconciling the company’s bank statements
· Researching general ledger and trial balances
· Analysis of employee expenditures including healthcare
· Managing income and expenditure accounts and departments
· Generating the company’s financial reports
· Filing and remitting taxes and other financial obligations
· Managing financial and accounting software used by the company
· Maintain legal and reporting entities
· Provide financial impact analyst to help Operations make financial decisions
· Provide analysis and insight into accounting and financial improvements
Requirements
· 5+ years’ experience in accounting
· Accounting with Government Contractors a plus
· High school diploma or GED
· Solid understanding of accounting and payroll fundamentals including revenue recognition and accruals
· Experience with EAC, ETC, burn rate and % complete
· Understanding of contract types, FFP, FPAF, CP, CPAF, CPFF, T&M, etc.
· Knowledge of GAAP, FAR, CAS and DCAA guidelines including rate application and pools
· Proficient in MS Office and good knowledge of relevant software and databases
· Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
· Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
· Excellent communication skills

· 1-4 years = Accountant
· 5-7 years = Senior Accountant
· 8+ years = Lead Accountant
· 5-7 years and 0 management = Accounting Manager
· 8+ years and 1-5 years management = Senior Accounting Manager
· 10+ years and 5+ years management = Accounting Director
· 15+ years and 10+ years management = Accounting Vice President
FLSA Information
This is an exempt position and typically works a standard day-shift schedule Monday – Friday. Occasional extended hours and/or days are possible as business needs require.
Travel Statement
Occasional travel to work sites and/or meetings will be required, including infrequent overnight stays.
Work Location
As a corporate support position, the work location is the office located in Clarksville, TN. Remote and/or flexible work arrangements are possible on an occasional basis if discussed with the manager in advance.
Merit and/or Other Compensation Increases
Annual consideration for merit-based increases takes place each December, and are awarded, if applicable, based upon employee’s performance as well as company performance. An increase awarded during the end-of-year review process will go into effect January 1st of the following year.
