Orpyx develops sensor-based wearable solutions to prevent diabetic foot complications. We are an ISO 13485 company committed to providing quality medical devices that consistently meet customer needs and regulatory requirements. Orpyx® SI Sensory Insole System is comprised of sensor-embedded custom insoles used to empower people with diabetes to extend mobility by preventing dreaded diabetes-related complications such as foot ulcers and amputation. The sensory insoles send feedback to an app-based display, alerting the wearer in real-time of dangerous plantar pressures, enabling them to adjust behaviour immediately to help prevent damage from occurring. The sensory data is uploaded to the Orpyx SI cloud-based dashboard where the data can be remotely monitor between care visits. Our business model is a combination of medical device sales and SaaS (software-as-a-service) and meets the requirements for HCPCS and CPT reimbursement.

The Position
Reporting to the IT Manager and working as part of a cross-functional team, the IT Support Specialist oversees and performs a wide variety of IT support activities for Orpyx and our sister company, Kinetyx for on-site and remote workers. The IT Support Specialist provides the day-to-day support to the Orpyx and Kinetyx teams and troubleshoots any network, hardware, or software issues as they arise.
This includes:
Conducting the installation, configuration and management of computers, applications, and peripheral devices for on-site and remote Orpyx and Kinetyx team members
Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving desktop hardware, software, and SaaS application problems
Working closely with People & Culture team and company leadership for successful new hire onboarding
Providing orientation, guidance, and recommendations to employees on how to operate new software and computer equipment as required
Staying current with IT technology and security trends to continually educate employees on IT best practices and security related issues to ensure safe usage of email, antivirus/malware threats and general Internet usage and precautions
Maintaining accurate records and change management logs with IT support tickets and maintenance schedules
Administrating and managing various system user accounts, mailboxes, IT assets
Providing administrative support to the IT Manager with maintaining an accurate IT asset inventory
Identifying computer equipment and peripheral shortages and placing orders with vendors
Maintaining an accurate and detailed licensing inventory and control software licensing costs
Supporting the IT Manager to organize, schedule, and complete upgrades and maintenance while minimizing employee work disruption
Supporting the IT Manager with all IT related projects (cloud application security, network security, privacy security, data protection, data integrity and data recovery)
Continually surveying the IT environments for Orpyx and Kinetyx to identify opportunities for improvements, enhancements, and potential cost reductions
Completing focused work while sitting for long period of time in front of a computer workstation
Safely lifting large objects up to 50 lbs when required
Maintaining a clean, and safe working environment
Performing duties in a manner that is consistent with and committed to upholding the requirements of the quality management system
Additionally, due to the ever-changing and sometimes chaotic environment of an early-stage high-tech company, the IT Support Specialist may assume additional responsibilities, as required.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of IT desktop support and systems administration experience in a fast-paced office environment
Technical diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant industry experience with Network+ and/or A+ certifications
Understanding of basic networking concepts and troubleshooting skills
Solid understanding Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace application suites and associated desktop applications
Proficient knowledge of macOS and Windows operating systems, along with Apple and Android mobile devices
Prior experience supporting and managing Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence) are an asset
Experience with MDM and deployment solutions as Jamf, Kandji or Microsoft Intune are an asset
Experience with Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform or Amazon Web Services are an asset
Ability to support the full gamut of employee IT skillsets, from highly competent IT users like software developers, engineers, to individuals with limited computer experience
Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
Must have a strong attention to detail and possess a driven, high-quality attitude and work ethic
Possess a curiosity and willingness to learn anything and become proficient quickly
Ability to work under pressure with tight timelines
Ability to commit to and to meet deadlines
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday (8:30am to 5:00pm).
