About the Department
The newly established Department of Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions (MSRA) delivers a professional and responsive service to the School to ensure that student number targets are met by recruiting and admitting well-qualified applicants. This includes development and delivery of exciting marketing campaigns to communicate the values of SOAS and the benefits of studying here, and in-person recruitment across UK, EU and International markets to programmes delivered on-campus, via distance and online learning, and through our partnerships overseas.
In Admissions, the team aims to deliver a professional, fair and efficient applicant experience, whilst providing academic departments with advice on process and acting as the institutional repository for qualifications expertise.
The Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions teams work particularly closely with central professional services including, the Global Engagement Directorate, Registry, External Engagement and Public Affairs, IT, Legal and Governance, Estates and all the Departmental teams.
About the Role
Our newly established Department of Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions (MSRA) ensures that we meet our student number targets by recruiting and admitting well-qualified applicants to the school.
As our Admissions Officer, you will be part of a small team and be the first point of contact for any prospective student applying to the School, for a Postgraduate, Research or Distance learning programme. You will undertake the processing and assessment of their application and make decisions on whether to make an offer according to criteria defined in conjunction with academic admissions tutors.
This role plays a key part in the delivery of an excellent applicant experience and assists the School to meet its student number targets by admitting suitably qualified applicants.
About you
We are looking for someone who has experience working in Higher Education, ideally with experience working in Admissions (postgraduate) with an understanding of the following;
Postgraduate application processes
UCAS processes (desirable)
UK and international qualifications and their equivalencies and
Equal Opportunities issues, Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation.
You will have a good level of IT skills to enable you to work on spreadsheets, databases, assessments and tracking of information received. You will have the ability to work under pressure, prioritise workload and meet prescribed deadlines.
