The Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL) is the leading professional association and trade union for all school and college leaders. We are proud to support and represent more than 21,500 leaders of primary, secondary and post-16 education from across the UK.
In Wales, ASCL Cymru speaks with authority to influence national, regional and local government policy and practice; provides individual advice and support to members on professional matters and their employment and delivers first-class professional development.
We are actively seeking a suitably qualified and experienced professional to join ‘ASCL Team Cymru’.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the ASCL Cymru team, to help influence the direction of national and local policy in a variety of contexts and to develop their own profile as an expert in education policy. The right candidate will be able to carry out research, seek and collate views from appropriate stakeholders and identify emerging issues across all phases of school and college provision to draft and produce policy papers and reports.
With excellent presentation and communication skills, and with proven knowledge of current Welsh education policies relevant to school and college leaders, they are likely to have recently held either a policy-focused role or a leadership role in an education policy organisation, education setting or other relevant educational organisation.
The successful candidate will work closely within an extremely well-regarded and supportive ASCL Team Cymru who represent members and influence policy. This may include deputising for the director where necessary.
The post-holder will be home-based although the role involves frequent travel across Wales to attend meetings with key stakeholders and deliver training and consultancy to members. There will be regular contact with and visits to ASCL HQ in Leicester, plus training and development. IT and telephone equipment will be provided.
This role is paid on a five-point incremental range from £57,508 to £63,564. Reasonable travel and out-of-pocket expenses are also covered.
ASCL is an equal opportunities employer and offers a very generous package of benefits, including a pension scheme to which the Association contributes 9%.

The closing date for applications is 4pm Thursday 7 April.
Interviews will be held in Leicester on Thursday 14 April.
