An opportunity has arisen for the right individual to join Sage’s Financial Accounting, Reporting and Control function in a forward-looking role as a Finance Analyst. This role is strategic in nature and provides value to senior stakeholders through the analysis of financial data to drive key business decisions. Primarily, the areas of responsibility will include cash flow reporting and forecasting and working capital management, but will also support on project work including mergers and acquisitions, valuations analysis and other ad-hoc requirements.

The ideal candidate enjoys working as part of a high-performing team in an inclusive environment and comes from a finance background, with a good knowledge of accounting and reporting requirements under IFRS. In this role, you will report to the Director Strategic Accounting, Reporting and Analysis and will work directly with cross-functional and regional leaders to drive forward our vision of becoming a great SaaS company. The role will be based in London or Newcastle, with a flexible working arrangement.

Cash flow reporting and forecasting activities:

Assess monthly cash flow performance against prior periods and forecasts by partnering with regional finance teams to understand key commercial drivers.

Play an active role in monthly performance review calls alongside other FP&A and Commercial Finance colleagues.

Take a lead role in the preparation and reporting of the month end cashflow, including commentary within the Group’s management accounts.

Manage the cash flow budget and forecasting cycle by providing guidance, support and challenge to regional finance teams. Provide budgeting and forecasting insights to finance leaders.

Working capital management:

Be a champion for working capital management practices, leveraging knowledge and insight from cash flow reporting and forecasting activities.

Play a lead role in the monitoring and review of working capital targets across the Group, particularly DSO.

Finance systems and tools :

Partner with the Finance Systems team to provide ideas of continuous improvement on technology tools used to monitor, review, and analyse financial reporting and performance.

Sponsor new ideas for change through to implementation.

Project work:

Provide support to other team members with project work including mergers and acquisitions, valuation exercises and modelling.

Support, where required, with acquisition related purchase price allocation exercises undertaken by third party advisers.

Act as a representative of the group finance function and liaise with internal and external accounting, tax, and treasury specialists.

Summarise the inputs, processes, and outcomes of project work into succinct memorandums for review by senior stakeholders.

Skills, know-how and experience:

Must have:

Chartered accountant (e.g., ACA / ACCA / CPA)

1-2 years PQE

Demonstrate good accounting skills and technical knowledge of financial accounting and reporting

Ability to analyse issues and present key messages within communications and reports to others, including senior stakeholders

Agile working mindset with an adaptable working style, ability to think creatively, highly driven, and self-motivated

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, advanced experience with Excel and PowerPoint applications

Preferred:

Knowledge of the SaaS / software industry

Prior experience of working with HFM and Workday Adaptive, or other system-based planning tools Excel and PowerPoint applications

Technical / professional qualifications:

Chartered accountant (e.g., ACA / ACCA / CPA)
