City Catering Southampton Hiring for Training & Development Manager at Southampton Full Time

We are on the hunt for an exceptional candidate, to join our Charity as the new Training and Development Manager! Are you our next Training Specialist? Perhaps a Training Consultant looking to share your exceptional experience and skills with an amazing Charity! This role is being recruited on a part time basis of 3 days per week (24hrs per week)

We believe that access to good food is a right, not a privilege. Therefore we exist to make a tangible nutritional difference in people’s lives. We do this by serving School Food Plan and Food For Life compliant meals in 46 of Southampton’s schools and nurseries, while also serving hot nutritious meals into the homes of vulnerable and elderly adults.

Our £5m-turnover charity is supported by a team of approximately 250 employees, and a small volunteer team who specifically support some of our charitable initiatives. Together, we stand by our moto of #FoodForGood.

JOB PURPOSE:

To coordinate, grow and nurture our charity’s skills development programmes – both for internal team members and for the wider community benefit. Working closely with the Senior Management Team, to identify training needs and create solutions that improve skills, knowledge and engagement across the charity. To drive and meet strategic aims with our community benefit programme – Skills for Good – that offers employability opportunities and experiences within the catering and charitable sector for the Southampton and local community.

KEY DELIVERABLES:

• Enable progressive training and skill development opportunities for our diverse workforce, from Catering staff to Trustees, to enable everyone to fulfil their potential and drive the charity’s strategic aims.
• In liaison with Senior Managers, identify knowledge and skill gaps. Find and co-ordinate solutions to ensure that all team members are able to grow and enhance their skills through City Catering Southampton.
• To own, shape and deliver on the aims within our Skills for Good programme. Including but not limited to creating and supporting volunteer, work experience and access to work pathways for the wider community, in liaison with internal and external partners.
• Promote City Catering Southampton locally as an employer of choice for young people, and those looking to re-train or re-enter the workforce.
• Create, promote and protect opportunities for internal progression for our workforce.
• Develop high quality internal training schemes and programmes to support sustainability in skill development within the workforce, together with devising bespoke training plans.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and deliver training on behalf of the Charity.
• Maintaining training records, ensuring individual needs are recognised and met.
• Collating and reporting statistics on training activity i.e. training requested, training delivered and scheduled training.
• Liaising with external providers to book courses.
• Preparing training rooms/kitchens in advance of all in-person courses.
• Typing, amending, photocopying, laminating and binding training materials as required.
• Ensuring all training is documented and CCS branded.
• Support in the development and management of an effective induction process for all new starters to provide a springboard for internal career development.
• Create and deliver a range of training content, learning resources & materials, utilising a spectrum of training methods in line with the Charity’s brand.
• Ensure knowledge is up to date and relevant by attending industry events or courses and holding a keen interest in recent reports and research.
• Train and develop colleagues and managers on Train the Trainer workshops.
• Participating in wider generalist HR projects where crossover with Talent Management occurs.

PERSON SPECIFICATION AND REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• Substantial experience of working within a training/learning and development role and administering online training systems
• A recognised training qualification
• A thorough understanding of Food Safety and Health & Safety in a Catering environment
• Good knowledge of Learning and Development Practise
• Be a self starter, ready to jump in and get cracking
• Be able to create great quality, accurate and compliant training material
• Be technically savvy with a high aptitude for digital processes
• Be a confident presenter and communicator, able to advise and inform others with ease

• Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate must hold a valid driving license and have access to their own car (mileage reimbursed)
• Have a flexible approach to working days and hours to ensure all needs are met across our workforce

Salary £27,600 per annum (FTE £46,000)
