Magellan Aerospace has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time permanent Costing/Business Analyst at our manufacturing hub in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The Costing Analyst will be responsible, through data analytics, to support the programs (Aerostructures, Aeroengines, Space and Rockets) in identifying and analyzing trends relating to operational efficiency and material costing with the goal to improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes in order to increase efficiencies, reduce cost, and improve on time delivery of Magellan Aerospace products. Reporting to the Finance department, this role will interact directly with operational management and program leadership, with a focus on data gathering, analysis and reporting to support operational decision making at all levels within the organization.

Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Compile and analyze data through existing Operational and Finance systems and databases to support annual budget and monthly forecasting creation and maintenance.

Creation and maintenance of data reporting mechanisms as determined by Operational and Finance leadership to support cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives.

Identify and facilitate process improvement projects to align with the MOS (Magellan Operating System) requirements.

Conduct root cause and gap analysis to troubleshoot manufacturing, business and assembly issues measuring key operational and financial performance indicators against planned budget and established standards.

Assess and make recommendations on material flow, project plans, production capacity and cell design, and create process documentation and standard reporting methods.

Carry out advanced data collection and analysis to support process mapping, and develop budgets and cost analysis to determine project feasibility.

Recommend tooling and capital equipment as it relates to process improvement.

Develop and conduct audits, program evaluations and review to drive results with the goal to ensure permanent change.

Position Requirements / Qualifications

Education & Experience

Undergraduate degree/diploma from an accredited University/College in Business, Finance or Data Analytics or equivalent level of education and experience.

MBA, CPA and/or PMP designation preferred.

3+ years of experience in providing data analysis to support continuous (process) improvement initiatives, costing improvements and/or project management (or similar role) is required.

Experience in Manufacturing in long lead-time, high capital programs is required.

Solid working knowledge of financial models and costing is preferred.

Training in Lean manufacturing principles and Kaizen facilitation is preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, problem solving and analytical skills.

Strong leadership skills, experience working in a unionized environment, ability to learn and apply new concepts and overcome obstacles.

Ability to work with and influence others in a fast-paced environment.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.

Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Word is required.

Training in MS Project and database tools such as SQL, ODBC and MS Access is preferred.
