Babcock provide a full range of signalling services covering all aspects of traffic control systems in the rail industry. Services include design, installation, test and commissioning and project management. Additionally we provide all support services regularly required to undertake signalling projects including civils, telecoms, electrification, power and track. We also partner with major signalling equipment suppliers to provide the full turnkey signalling package for our customers.
Due to progression of our contracts we now have an exciting opportunities as an Electrical Senior Project Engineer who will be responsible for the management of a team of permanent and temporary staff, ensuring all the facets of the engineering requirements of Distribution Project Engineering are delivered in accord with the relevant company and client standards and procedures, in a timely and effective manner.
Who we are looking for?
Demonstrable experience as an E&P Senior Project Engineer and Construction Responsible Engineer (CRE). You will be fully flexible and willing to undertake travel away from home, including overnight stays, in Ireland / UK wide as the business need requires.
What will you be doing?
You will play a key role in leading and directing a team of up to twenty staff and attend meetings regularly to undertake surveys and briefings and will be working very closely with the design team to provide design input as you will be responsible for installations.
Your duties will include:
* Lead and direct the Distribution Engineering Team to ensure that the Distribution Project Engineering workload is delivered by competent and efficiently organised engineers, whether internally sourced, externally sub-contracted or supplemented by agency
* Provision and application of technical guidance, leadership and, as necessary, formal mentorship to engineering team members as necessary
* As required, manage and/or undertake the role of ‘Contractors Responsible Engineer’ and/or ‘Contractors Engineering Manager’, as necessary to fulfil the needs of the projects.
* Ensure the development, implementation and maintenance of processes and procedures, compliant to corporate requirements, to effectively and efficiently deliver the regions compliance to statutory, client mandatory and project specifically advised standards and other requirements
* In close liaison with the regional Distribution Manager UK, produce resourcing plans for portfolio items for agreements with SPM’s/PM’s with regard to deployment and cost reimbursement
* Through direction of the Distribution manger UK, assist with the optimisation of the utilisation of the Power total project engineering resources
The experience you’ll bring
* Demonstrable CRE experience is essential
* Suitable Railway Engineering and Construction qualifications and experience
* Sufficient experience of management of staff
* Sound knowledge of all rail related Power design & engineering principles, practices and standards
* Conversant with full Power range
* Conversant with all other British & European Standards relating to rail related Power works
* Conversant with current industry standard Power design packages
* Full UK Driving License
