GetSetUp is the largest and fastest-growing online community of older adults who want to learn, connect and do wonderful things. In the 19 months since our founding, we have grown to more than 4 million members around the world. The platform offers live classes taught by peers who are experts in their field, social hours hosted by community members, and special events with speakers who directly address areas of interest to older adults. Classes are taught in English, Spanish, Hindi, and Mandarin. We’ve grown to over 150 employees spread across the world with core teams in the U.S., Australia, India, and more sites coming soon.

The Head of People/Talent oversees the entire talent acquisition and retention function at GetSetUp. You will play a critical role in shaping how who and where we hire and retain. You will operate as a core member of our leadership team and report to our CEO. You will work closely with the founders to define, build and execute a truly intergenerational, remote, global, and flexible culture that one day you can write a book about.
Recruiting:
- Help create the recruiting process, keep it simple, remove biases, report, and give candidates the best experience.
- Work cross-functionally in the business to develop and optimize our hiring plans, interview processes, sourcing strategy, candidate experience
- Serve as a public-facing representative for the company both with potential talent and external audiences.
Culture:
- Developing ideas to enforce a culture
- Implement regular new initiatives to reinforce culture
- Help founder implements a flexible remote workplace policy and organization
- Build our employer brand (in collaboration with our marketing team)
- Give team leaders guidance on how to be good people managers
- Work with teams to create a good culture that is defined ground up and not top-down. We like Gitlab and Automatics ( guidelines)
- How to screen for culture when hiring – guidelines
Onboarding/HR:
- Identify key gaps, and prioritize solutions to enhance our employee experience
- Partner with hiring managers, and hiring teams to evolve and manage a new-hire onboarding program focused on creating a sense of belonging and accelerating time to impact all new hires
- Review our existing People programs, processes, and practices (e.g. performance & comp reviews, people manager training, L&D, DEI initiatives)
- Make sure top performers are reviewed and added to the appraisal list both for comp and responsibilities – the best employees should be given growth opportunities. Set up a framework to run the annual review process
- Benefits for WFH, different healthcare benefits, etc. Consistently review for discrepancies by role, region, gender

What You Won’t Do:

About You:
- 7+ years progressive experience in Recruiting and/or Strategic People roles in a high-growth start-up, preferably working with both technical and business / GTM teams
- Experience working at a partially remote, or all-remote company
- 3+ year people management experience, with an outstanding track record of building out teams and developing talent
- A passion for putting people first and a vision for how to build and sustain a world-class culture
- Are passionate about creating a unique and memorable candidate experience with a strong focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Have had success in creating an inclusive culture that builds trust between cross-functional teams
- Comfortable being a public-facing representative for the company
- Have a strong leadership experience and a track record of growing members of your team and ensuring they meet or exceed performance expectations
- Demonstrated ability to scale people programs and practices
- Knowledge of and comfort with best-in-class recruiting software and tools
