VGC Looking for Section Engineer at Carlisle Full Time

Section Engineer
24 month contract 
Located in Carlisle
£325 – 375 per day (inside of IR35)

RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Managing the delivery of highway/motorway project
• Liaising at an appropriate level with clients, stakeholders and other technical disciplines to deliver innovative, value-for-money designs and solutions within time and cost constraints.
• Supporting Team Leader with the delivery of a programme of highway schemes and asset management services, including resource planning and co-ordination of teams.
• Working with Contractors to develop detailed designs and construction support services for major highways projects and services
• Raising technical queries with designers and other members of the client team
• Carry out relevant inspections and testing to ensure conformance of the works with the design and specification
• Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures
• Read and review construction drawings
• Capable of setting out to exact drawing specifications
• Ensure work is executed in a safe manner meeting legal guidelines set out in health safety and requirements and environmental compliance
• Safety / Quality / Programme and Production
• Manage site activities to ensure work is completed on time and within budget
• Review Method Statements and Risk Assessments and make improvements as appropriate.
• Deliver end product to customer satisfaction
• Implement appropriate policies and procedures
• Promote best practice amongst engineering staff and encourage their career progression
• Develop the directly employed labour including, supervision, appraisals, training, absence management and motivation
• Ensure works are completed on time, within budget and to specification

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previously worked on highways/heavy civils project
• Experience on working on new road/highway based projects
• Good knowledge of specifications and testing regimes relevant to general civil engineering
• Have the required training and experience to resolve typical site based issues
• Be able to work as part of a site team
• Have a CSCS qualification specific to the works will be undertaking
• Worked for Tier 1 contractor is a preference
• Good team-working skills, particularly in relation to the delivery of multi-disciplinary projects
• Good communication skills at all levels
