Applications are invited for a 4 year, full time GeoBus Education Assistant OR Education Co-coordinator in the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences (SEES). GeoBus is a free educational outreach project developed and run by the School of Earth & Environmental Sciences, active since 2012. Its aims are to support Earth and Environmental Science teaching in secondary schools across Scotland by providing educational resources, inspire young learners, provide a bridge between industry, HEIs, Research Councils and schools, and to highlight career opportunities in STEM.
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to fill the role of Education Assistant, or experience and qualifications depending, Education Co-coordinator, providing support to the current GeoBus Education Coordinator in creating and delivering GeoBus activities, and participating in public engagement events. The Education Assistant will have responsibility for all social networking to broadcast GeoBus activities and will additionally assist with organisational aspects of the summer teaching and outreach carried out by the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
The position requires the successful candidate to become, or be, a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme for regulated work with children. Assistance in obtaining membership will be provided.
Experience with STEM public engagement and delivery is essential for this role, as is an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences in a variety of delivery settings.
