Growing Learners is looking for a director for our new South Portland location which is set to open this Spring. Candidates should have management experience, and either a CDA, Early childhood degree or college credits combined with years of experience. Our leadership team loves to collaborate and is constantly striving to provide the best care and working environment possible. Applicants should enjoy the office end of child care but also love being present in the classroom and available for families and children.
The role of the center director is to see to the daily administrative duties required to run the center while also effectively managing the center staff. The director will collaborate and communicate well with the leadership team and business owners. The director will be welcoming to all families of different beliefs, abilities, and backgrounds. Uphold mandate reporting policies as outlined by the State of Maine and also be knowledgeable in all licensing policies and rules for each age group.
Job expectations
· Must be open to a flexible schedule. While you will have a fairly set schedule, in instances of cal louts or vacations your shift is subject to change.
· Sit in for one classroom evaluations bi-weekly using our classroom check list. Meet with the team afterwards
· Assist teachers in their growth and development by providing constructive feedback, training, and goal setting. In the event that a policy is followed you may be responsible for a council
· Maintain files, employees and children. This includes making sure every file has the correct information and conducting audits
· Inform staff of benefit plans and options, assist with enrolling staff on plans as needed
· Support team to create a community environment for center employees and enrolled families
· Work with leadership team towards NAECY accreditation
· Will help with lunch and snack preparation, collect dishes and load dishwasher as needed
· Set up new employees on Brightwheel and payroll
· Be knowledgeable on all allergies and behavioral plans
· Maintains exceptional parent communications, confident in handling difficult conversations if the event should arise or a teacher does not feel comfortable.
· Maintains all family/staff confidentiality
· Center monthly newsletter with collaboration from Owner
The Director will be assisted by the owner and assistant director with office tasks.
Training will be provided for 1 month prior at our Stevens ave location in Portland to help introduce you to the Growing Learner’s philosophy.
