Job Purpose

Little Leaf Farms is the leading grower and seller of high-quality salad greens in the Northeast U.S. We grow, package, and ship our delicious greens from our greenhouses in Devens MA and McAdoo PA. Our advanced, sustainable greenhouses grow millions of pounds of greens, year-round, for next-day shipment to local supermarkets.Little Leaf Farms designs, constructs, and operates its greenhouses.
We are looking for an experienced Project Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will manage contracting, budgeting, tracking, vendor billing, and financial analysis of new greenhouse construction, and of other major capital projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

_ Budgeting and planning: _

• Develop and maintain project budget, on a cash and accrual basis. Prepared expenditure forecasts, on a cash and accrual basis. Provide regular budget variance reporting to construction and finance teams.
• Assist in negotiating the financial elements of vendor contracts Assist construction team in evaluating and comparing vendor bids
• Develop and maintain asset categorization schema, for accounting and analysis purposes
• Track change orders associated with the project
• Maintain all financial records for the project, including contracts, change orders, and purchase orders.

• Billing and payments:
• Ensure accuracy of vendors’ invoices. Ensure that billing is performed in accordance with master contracts.
• Track internal expenses associated with the project, including labor hours and reimbursable expenses
• Track and communicate vendor chargebacks
• Work with construction management team to assist in internal expense approval process
• Work with accounts payable team to ensure timely payment of approved expenses
• Develop working relationships with counterparts at key project vendors

• Accounting: *

• Coordinate with accounts payable staff to ensure proper accounting and GL coding.
• At project completion, coordinate cost segregation studies.
• At project completion, assist accounting team with fixed asset accounting
• Assist in tax matters as needed
• Review sales tax obligations on a quarterly basis

· Other:

• Assist with analysis relating to project spend
• Assist with annual audit preparation as necessary

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or in a related field, or with commensurate experience
• 3-5 years of experience in project accounting or closely related field
• Exceptional ability to prepare project budgets and financial forecasts.
• Working knowledge of GAAP, including fixed asset and progress billing
• Proficient with accounting software, proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook), experience with ERP systems
• Strong organizational, communications, and problem-solving skills

• Working Conditions and Physical Requirements*

Required to sit for long periods of time; may need to walk or stand in the course of work as well as light to medium levels of lifting of supplies or equipment. Work performed in an office environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 per year
