You’re comfortable running a classroom online, adapting to breakout rooms, learning new materials quickly (that we are providing), and putting your own spin on materials based on your own experience having started companies previously.

We’re hiring several Lead Instructors to provide high-level oversight and leadership of a cohort of a select group of our program startups, while also running several entrepreneurial courses and leading experiential assignments. The ideal candidate is passionate about entrepreneurship education and can operate autonomously while balancing strategic decisions with quick action. S/he will guide the student teams throughout the process, checking in with them twice per week, and providing additional support check-ins.

Dates:

The position is a temporary, five-week, contract position that is done remotely. In addition to the five weeks of the program, there will be two weeks of training prior to the program.

The program dates are from June 20 – July 22, with training for the two weeks prior, starting June 6.

Lead Instructor Duties and Responsibilities
Classroom Instruction:

• Deliver the entrpereneurial process subject matter outlined in the LaunchX curriculum with the goal of ensuring that students obtain the predetermined outcomes (experience with prototyping is a plus)

• Take ownership of the instructor role as leader both in and outside the classroom

• Assist with planning and implementation of changes in the program, curriculum, or instruction

Student and Team Mentorship:

• Evaluate student progress on a regular basis, providing feedback regarding performance in class and any obstacles that may be impeding progress

• Be responsible for leading a cohort of ~8 student startup teams through the entire entrepreneurial process of starting their companies during the program, having regular meetings, providing mentorship, and reviewing their progress

• Attend weekly meeting with teams to share headway, concerns, and details regarding upcoming meetings with student teams

• Work with students to identify and reflect on specific goals and actions needed in order to successfully run a business

• Provide support during tough times. Keeping the students’ motivation level up, reassuring that the challenges are part of every journey, giving the comfort that support is available.

Additional Logistics:

• Manage prototyping requests from student teams using Divvy

• Review student submissions and provide feedback

• Provide timely updates as needed to Program Manager, including attending any scheduled meetings

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree

• Experience in starting and running your own business

• Experience working with / mentoring high school students, and believe strongly in the potential of high school students

• Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation / public speaking skills

• Project management skills, including time management, problem-solving, and decision-making

• Patience in mediating team and interpersonal challenges

• High technical and computer literacy

• Successfully pass a thorough background check

• Maker and/or coding experience is a plus – to support startups with prototyping

Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Temporary
Contract length: 6 weeks

Pay: $30.00 – $44.00 per hour
