Montgomery’s Hiring for Chief Financial Officer (Accounting / Finance) Job at Sioux Falls, SD Full Time

Montgomery’s, a 134-year-old family-owned Home Furnishings business, and Sinclair Land & Cattle, a real estate development company, are both growing and are excited to add a Chief Financial Officer to oversee both companies. This is a great career opportunity for a high performing and empathetic individual to help lead the future growth of Montgomery’s as our CFO. The CFO will report directly to the President and will work alongside him to analyze and forecast future growth and profitability strategies. They will be responsible for advising, analyzing, strategizing, and growing the financial position of Montgomery’s and Sinclair Land & Cattle, while overseeing financial statement preparation, budgeting, management reporting, tax and regulatory filings, insurance management, and asset control.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, or related field with 10 plus years of experience.
• Prior experience in CFO position preferred.
• Prior experience in real estate development, a plus
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential preferred.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
• Strong strategic planning, forecasting, and budgeting experience.
• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and efficiently manage tasks and time.
• Highly organized with exceptional follow-through abilities.
• Ability to lead, coach, and mentor staff.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass background check and drug screen.
• Ability to travel between all Montgomery’s locations as needed.

Essential Duties:

• Prepare Budget for both entities and work with key leaders in each department on analyzing and maintaining the budget throughout the year.
• Complete financial statements and accounting for Sinclair Land and Cattle.
• Oversee Montgomery’s Financial Statement preparation
• Financial analysis, forecasting and strategic planning.
• Formulate tax planning strategy and insurance and risk management.
• Help formulate compensation plans, company policies and procedures, performance measures, internal controls, recruiting program and advise management of appropriate resolution on employee relations as part of the Executive Team.
• Work directly with the owners on analyzing and strategizing future growth and investment opportunities for Montgomery’s and Sinclair Land and Cattle. This will include working directly with outside banking and legal relationships.
