Development / Software Operations Support Engineer

With the rapid deployment of the Clean Air Zones (CAZ) throughout the UK and with the major delivery of the Transport for Greater Manchester we have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join the delivery team with a key role working primarily with our internal team to support and continuingly improve the existing CAZ Solution and Infrastructure.

What are your responsibilities?

• Working closely with exciting development & infrastructure teams acting as the voice for the customer
• Continuous performance & incident data reviews to suggest innovative technical change for improvements and/or cost savings
• Ensuring contractual technical delivery such as Backups, Procedural compliance, and solution security considerations
• Attend internal and external meetings monthly
• Internal performance reporting
• Incident, Problem & Change weekly reviews to actively seek opportunities
• Contract continuous improvement monthly reviews & reporting
• Documentation to ensure knowledge is shared and understood at all levels to include FAQs and supporting others to ensure first time fix

The Candidate

• Have some experience of product lifecycle, ITIL and Agile environments would be desirable for the successful candidate.
• You work independently, safely, and responsibly; taking ownership of challenges and ideas and are looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change
• You enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions and are a self- motivated self-starter

• You will be educated to degree level or be able to show equivalent experience. You will be a self-starter with the ability to understand user requirements or system interface definitions, and develop reliable, provable solutions. We are looking for someone who will question and continuously improve our methodologies according to the changing business needs
• Confident working with exciting team of 2nd & 3rd line technical support and developers

What do I need to qualify for this job?

• A background in Development Operational support is key to this role with a broad and deep knowledge of cloud technologies, network, and security with a focus on Amazon Web Services (AWS) is key.
• Good understanding of AWS architecture, Linux and Windows Operating Systems and ideally with a good working knowledge of SQL scripting.
• Experience in interpreting complex data and translating output into high quality documentation
• Proven experience of adapting to new systems, technologies and processes with an awareness/understanding of development applications and lifecycle.
• Desire to strive for solutions. Taking ownership of customer and end-to-end issue resolution and using appropriate, timely communication to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Have some experience of product lifecycle, ITIL and Agile environments would be desirable for the successful candidate.
• The role requires excellent communication skills, with customers, external partners, and internal colleagues at a peer level.
