Software Delivery Manager

Bristol, UK – Hybrid remote & flexible working

The Company

At Vaarst we are developing software and a platform for mobile autonomous robotics focusing on the energy transition space. Our team produces state of the art computer vision systems coupled with the latest in machine learning techniques. We use these to deploy robots on wind farms where they perform visual surveys and output detailed 3D models, with live data transmitted direct to our clients.

To keep them connected and informed we are building an Intelligent Data Platform that integrates with our state-of-the-art AI driven vision system and the latest machine learning techniques.

The Opportunity

This role is for an experienced Delivery Manager to join our technical team to help deliver cutting edge products. We require a Delivery Manager to support teams across one of more of the following areas – Autonomy, SubSLAM, edgeML and ML.

You will be key to delivering on the ambitious and exciting plans!

You will need to:

• Take accountability for the delivery of products and services in your area through the full product life cycle.
• Support multi-disciplinary technical delivery teams, creating an open and collaborative working environment.
• Enable the team to deliver at pace, building and iterating robust and secure products and services which meet user needs.
• Facilitate the dynamic planning process, balancing the capacity and capability of the team.
• Remove any obstacles or ‘blockers’ to progress and manage risks to delivery.
• Maintain accurate records and create performance metrics to demonstrate progress against goals.
• Work with the Product Owner/Manager and user feedback to refresh, iterate and refine product requirements.
• Translate the prioritised product roadmap/requirements into a backlog delivering incremental value.
• Ensure the deliveries are properly resourced within budget and track the costs of delivery.
• Communicate the value of solutions to bring stakeholders on board and help teams define measures of success
• Understanding the balance of the team skill set with the upcoming work schedule
• Work with a team of delivery managers to support the different technical deliveries and develop best practice
• Contribute to a continuous learning environment, keeping on top of latest developments in your area
• Help coordinate trials the demonstrate our products & technology
• Provide input & support to funding activities including grants

Requirements

Essential

• Solid experience of delivery management for software engineering solutions
• Proven experience of delivering robust, secure digital products that meet user needs
• Strong diplomacy and negotiation skills allowing you to engage with team members and achieve buy-in collaboratively
• Good experience of developing delivery roadmaps, structuring and tracking work, managing spend and communicating/forecasting progress
• Great stakeholder management and facilitation skills and knowledge of Agile methodologies
• Comprehensive understanding of delivering and developing software
• Comprehensive understanding of managing software in production and the surrounding activities.

Desirable

• Experience of managing tech deliveries involving robotics, computer vision, subsea solutions or ML
