About the role

We are currently seeking a self-starter with experience in managing budgets, reconciliations, analysing financial data and producing financial reports to join our Strategic Finance team as an Accounting Officer on a temporary full-time basis for a period up to 24 months.

In this role, you will assist the Strategic Finance team to provide sound and efficient financial control and management of Council’s operations and, as a result, long term financial sustainability, compliance with legislative and accounting standards, and integrity and transparency in stakeholder reporting. Imperative to success in this role will be your ability to demonstrate initiative in day-to-day tasks and projects, provide attention to detail, plan and prioritise your work and uphold Council’s values of respect, innovation and accountability, as well as our Customer Promise.

Essential Criteria

• Tertiary qualification, or working towards, in Business, Accountancy or related field
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Sound reconciliation skills
• Ability to work without supervision and collaboratively in a team environment
• Previous budget experience in a large complex organisation
• Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise work and meet deadlines
• Ability to analyse and comprehend financial data and produce financial reports
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word and financial software packages

Desirable Criteria

• Local Government experience
• Experience with Technology One applications
• Current NSW Class C driver licence

Commencing salary: $73,342.00 per annum, plus 10% Superannuation.
