University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) is hiring a full-time Clinical Education Coordinator for the Preoperative Nursing Team at our Midtown Campus in Baltimore, MD.

Clinical Education Coordinator Responsibilities

• 24-hour responsibility and accountability for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and nursing department for a designated area.
• Making decisions in the areas of patient care, human resources, and financial management ensures that high-quality care is provided to a group of patients.
• Annually meeting budgetary goals, performance goals, patient safety goals, and other goals set by the organization and the department.
• Establishing successful employee and patient satisfaction levels, recognizing the contributions of the team, and striving to improve systems and processes through problem-solving while utilizing the involvement of other disciplines and services.

What You Need to Be Successful:

• A Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field is required. Course work in education is preferred. Individuals matriculating in an accredited master’s in nursing or healthcare field program will be considered. If the individual is matriculating through a master’s program, it is expected that the employee will graduate from the program no later than 5 years from the hire date. If the degree is not completed, the employee with be moved to a position in which they meet the education requirements.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
• Five years of clinical experience in nursing, which includes recent experience in an acute care setting is required.
• One year in a role performing staff education is required.
