CPR Looking for Senior Highways Design Engineer at Birmingham Full Time

We are dealing with a high profile, innovative consultancy who are currently searching for a Senior Highway Design Engineer to join one of their Midlands bases in Nottingham or Birmingham. You will have an opportunity to join a large and dynamic team who work with local and national clients, with typical projects including 1000+ plot residential developments, major highway junction design, and local authority schemes.

Successful candidates will have a rounded background of working with large private developers and public sector clients, particularly in the preliminary and detailed design of highways, drainage, levels and external works.

As a Senior Engineer in the Transport and Infrastructure Team, you will have a range of daily duties to break up your day and disturb the monotony of traditional work. These would include project management responsibilities, technical inputs to highway design & drainage design, client and stakeholder negotiations, internal team training, work winning, developing client relations, as well as representing and pushing your team, and the business forward.

Being part of the signature Transport and Infrastructure team, you will be working closely with other disciplines such as the Structures and Geotechnics teams to deliver projects. You will have excellent communication and project coordination skills, as well as a strong understanding of the involvement of other teams to ensure successful multidisciplinary collaboration in producing innovative highway designs. Furthermore, you must also be able to collaborate with key stakeholders such as developers, local authorities and contractors, and ensure that projects are delivered to surpass stakeholder expectations. 

Job Description:
–          Have a Civil Engineering Degree or likewise qualification
–          Ideal candidates would be Chartered, or en route to CEng/IEng
–          Experience in highways design specifications and manuals, such as the DMRB, MfS or MCDHW.
–          Experience in adoptable highways and drainage schemes (S278, S38, S104/106)
–          Be able to work independently to deliver your own schemes, including prelim/detailed design of highways, drainage, levels and external works.
–          Must be a professional user of Civils3D or other industry standard software, such as PDS, MxRoads, OpenRoads, or MicroDrainage.
–          Experience liaising and negotiating with external stakeholders (such as planning authorities, statutory undertakers and national governing bodies, such as the EA.
–          Experience liaising with, and sometimes leading, multidisciplinary teams
–          Delegate work and responsibilities to junior members of staff
–          Experience in representing the business and providing outwards facing capabilities, whether that is design support, tender presentation or work proposals.
