Job Summary:
The Education and Outreach Coordinator will be tasked with a variety of activities with the primary goals of advancing inclusion efforts and ensuring AAP’s connectedness within the community. This position will coordinate multiple opportunities for individuals and families to experience diverse enrichment activities on an annual basis. The Coordinator will lead education efforts to increase community knowledge about autism, inclusive practices, and
AAP. The Coordinator will create and strengthen collaborations with partners, maintain knowledge of resources for the autism community, and help to identify needs and opportunities for the organization.

Job Duties (not limited to):

• Organize, implement and diversify family engagement events (Making Memories, Art Camp, etc.)

• Assist in planning and managing all AAP awareness and outreach events
• Manage program components for families engaged in Project Lifesaver (enrollment, data entry, band/battery maintenance, etc.)
• Represent AAP at local outreach events and in various community groups/initiatives
• Seek and create partnership opportunities to enhance AAP’s community impact
• Create content and deliver training to businesses, venues, groups, or employers interested in learning about autism and inclusive practices
• Assist businesses, venues, groups with the implementation of inclusive practices
• Assist with the creation of a local autism certification process
• Develop and coordinate volunteer opportunities
• Field inquiries from families and individuals looking for local autism services and resources
• Maintain updated information on services and resources available to autism community
• Identify metrics, collect data, and report on outcomes as assigned by supervisor
• Assist with a variety of fundraising tasks and events

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Prolonged periods of standing

Skills and/or qualifications (not limited to):

• Background or knowledge related to autism spectrum disorder and the needs of the autism community
• Able to communicate concisely and effectively, both orally and in writing
• Computer skills are essential; candidate must be skilled in the use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Experience with CRM software and learning management systems is preferred
• Excellent planning and organization skills
• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and resolve problems independently
• Must be team oriented and able to work with both internal and external personnel
• Able to represent AAP in a positive, professional manner during correspondence with constituents, donors, volunteers, and staff
• Must possess a strong sense of personal accountability and integrity
• Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change
• Must be willing and able to work in the evenings and/or weekends, when needed

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or related field. Two+ years serving the needs of the autism community. Experience working with individuals from diverse social, economic, ethnic, academic, and cultural backgrounds valued.

Complexity/Diversity of work:
This position involves a wide array of tasks and activities required to promote the work and mission of Autism Action Partnership. The position requires a highly motivated individual, with strong communication and writing skills and the ability to create content that resonates with an intended audience. The Coordinator must show an ability represent AAP in a manner that instills hope, trust and inspiration among members of both the autism community and the non-autism community. This position requires high levels or organization and relationship management. This position will have frequent contact with all members of the AAP team, external agencies, individuals and families served by AAP, and the general community.

COMPENSATION

• $42-,000 – $50,000 starting annual salary (based on skill level and experience)
