Renishaw’s Machine Tool Products leads the market in delivering innovative, high accuracy measurement solutions to CNC machining processes around the world.
Our patented touch trigger probe technology was first employed to measur e intricate components for Concorde engines ; today (and many iterations later) our products are the benchmark in high precision engineering for manufacturing hundreds of everyday items like mobile phones and laptops through to car and aircraft parts. There’s a good chance our probes were involved in the production of the device you are reading this text on.
We are now seeking to recruit a Software Engineer to develop and maintain exciting new software products in the Machine Tool Products (MTP) Division. With ongoing innovation of high precision measurement devices, there is an increasing requirement for our skilled software teams to develop the programming and data analysis tools necessary to bring these products to market.
This position will form part of a small team of software engineers, developing and maintaining software products written in C++ targeted at the Microsoft Windows platform. The team has an excellent working atmosphere and uses an Agile development approach.
Location & h ybrid w orking
We operate a hybrid policy which allows most employees to work from home for large parts of the week. As a business, we are continuously involved with R&D for new products so, from time to time, there may be a n additional need to attend site to carry out certain tasks during key phases of projects. However, the expectation is that this role requires on site working 1 day per fortnight .
Responsibilities
The role will touch on a wide variety of technologies from 3D graphics to 5-axis machine tools using the very latest tools and development methodologies. With the support of a team of experienced engineers you will work on a variety of interesting and rewarding projects including implementing new functionality, bug fixes and enhancements
Key Requirements
Qualified to degree level in Software Engineering or similar discipline
Proven knowledge and experience with C++ programming (preferably Windows based)
Desirable Requirements
Experience developing software for Windows
C#, python, networking
Microsoft Visual Studio
Strong mathematical ability / experience
Agile development process
Distributed version control (e.g. Git)
Engineering / CNC machine tools knowledge
Person specification
The successful applicant will be a problem solver who works well in a collaborative/team environment. There is also an R&D element to the role, so scientific thinking is occasionally required.
