Position Overview:
If you desire to serve in a Christian workplace and use your mountain experience to help fulfill the mission of Youth Dynamics, this could be a great opportunity for you! The Mountain / Rock Manager position oversees the running of all climbing or mountain programs, whether stand-alone or combined with other adventure elements. We are a fun, collaborative team with opportunities to grow and personally and professionally.
This person will be responsible for training volunteers and seasonal staff, working with government entities to secure permits, managing gear, some promotion of programs and overseeing risk management within the program.Â
Primary Responsibilities:
 Scheduling of trips and staff
 Permit handling and reportingÂ
 Inventory and gear retentionÂ
 Management of technical manuals and risk management
 Training and certifying of staff and volunteers
 Guiding of student and staff trips
 Keeping current to industry standards, trends and dangers
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of wilderness travel and mountain environmentsÂ
Skill in Rock climbing, belaying, and anchorsÂ
Skill in route finding, glacier travel, weather and risk managementÂ
Skills in communication when guiding, training and leading
Administration – A working knowledge of standard office procedures and technologies (phone, computer, printer, photocopier, scanner)
Job Requirements:
Teachable – A passion for the mountains and a heart to share the love of Christ to others.
Experience – In mountain or rock settings of 2 years or more (AMGA or other certifications are ideal)
Leadership – Assures streamline logistics, communication, and program outcomes for all single and multi-day adventure combinations. Â
Communication – Provide professional and timely communication to guest groups, staff and other stakeholders.
Vision – Consistently communicate the future so that it ignites passion and commitment for volunteer staff, donors and the community at large
Wilderness First Aid Certification required. (Wilderness First Responder is ideal)Â
Willing to Fundraise 100% of personal salary for this position.
