Salary: circa £26,000 dependent on experience plus Veolia benefits *listed below
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

We have an exciting opportunity for an Education, Communications and Outreach Officer to to support the delivery of the Education, Communications and Outreach programme within Merseyside and Halton to promote recycling and waste minimisation to residents.

What will you be doing?
You will work closely with the ECO Lead and Area ECO Manager to manage the education programme and will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Centre. The role will involve delivering all aspects of the education programme to engage with residents, groups and schools including; managing bookings and visitors, delivering educational tours and sessions to all ages and levels, delivering virtual and outreach sessions in the community to change resident behaviours to recycling and waste minimisation and improve recycling rates.

Be passionate about improving recycling, reducing waste and promoting sustainable behaviours to research, develop and deliver the education programme.

Manage bookings for visitors at Gillmoss Recycling Discovery Centre.

Engage with schools, uniformed groups, colleges, retired clubs, voluntary organisations and charities through the delivery of guided tours and sessions at Gillmoss Recycling Discovery Centre and community outreach.

Create education resources for schools, community groups and residents that can be downloaded from the website to support learning at home/school.

Support the CEO lead by providing content for press releases, website updates, and social media communications.

Liaise with the operational team on service issues and campaign plans to link to the education programme.

Liaise with the Education and Campaigns Officer at the client, Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority to ensure alignment of the education programme.
What are we looking for?
Essential:
-
Experience of engagement and outreach work with school children and the public
-
Experience of leading educational visits / sessions
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong presentation skills
-
and public speaking experience

Excellent IT skills on all Google Suite software (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Mail) would be an advantage

Own transport and full driving licence

Strong organisational and multitasking skills
Desirable:
-
First Aid trained

Strong interest in sustainability and environmental awareness

Understanding of communications and marketing processes

Experience of working in the waste management or environmental sector

Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant field, or teaching experience

Good understanding of project management and event planning skills/experience
