Role Description:

Key responsibilities of the Software Engineer on BUCS are:

• Deliver services in Quartz Python and database changes in SQL for stories prioritized by Product Owner.
• To work collaboratively with development teams in Technology to deliver solutions end to end to meet business requirements.
• To work closely with Product Owner and business analysts to deliver stories and gain sign-off.
• Contribute to application design, regression test automation and other efficiency initiatives, as well as actively participating in all agile ceremonies.
• Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle.
• Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work.
• Mentors other Software Engineers and coaches team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack
• Possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry.
• Responsible for designing and developing complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.
• Ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset.

The Team:

The successful candidate will join the BUCS Camberley based feature team working closely with an India and Singapore based feature teams, as well as GBAM Finance stakeholders & users globally.

The team is part of the Accounting and Product Control team within Business Finance Office technology which has team-mates in London (MLFC, Bromley and Camberley), India and Singapore.

Whilst the BUCS application is a well-established application with over 500 active users the team has an exciting pipeline of work for 2022 and beyond, starting with a new web based UI, automated regression testing, and migration from SQL 2014 to SQL 2019.

Core Skills:

• Strong/expert SQL development skills.
• Strong python development skills.
• Good working knowledge of GIT
• Good OO design skills, knowledge of patterns and architectural understanding.
• Knowledge and experience of Agile and Lean software development practices
• Experience of enterprise application development.
• Exposure to Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development (TDD).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven global team interaction.
• Willingness to learn, adopt and advance team best-practices, procedures and qualitative standards.
• Willingness to own issues and chase them through to completion, communicating effectively and in a timely manner, throughout.

Preferred Skills:

• Investment banking experience
• Knowledge of Daily PNL Production process within a Global Markets Finance function.
• Appreciation of Risk Awareness (Inc. Operational, Compliance, Business & Reputational)
