A unique opportunity has arisen for an experienced, highly motivated and dynamic pharmacy technician to develop a new leadership role within our well established Pharmacy Education and Training team at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust.
This post offers an outstanding opportunity, at an exciting time within the field of pharmacy education and training, to play a key role within our department in developing and ensuring our current and future technical workforce is fit for purpose.
In this newly established post the successful applicant will proactively lead and strategically develop all aspects of pharmacy technician and support staff education and training to ensure both NUH and our Nottinghamshire wide Integrated Care systems (ICS) realise the potential that our technical workforce has and that they are appropriately utilised and trained to the highest standard.

The successful applicant will be expected to be a positive role model demonstrating the responsibility and accountability required of registered pharmacy technicians. They will empower the pharmacy technician and support staff team and other members of the wider pharmacy team to deliver their objectives and goals, whilst supporting their training and development.
The department has a philosophy of growing our own staff and we recognise that investing in their training and development has never been more important. As such the post holder will take overall responsibility for the maintenance and development of our well respected and established apprenticeship programme as we look to grow our numbers of pre-registration technicians and support staff.
They will manage, mentor and appraise the pharmacy technician and support staff education and training team and work closely with the Lead Pharmacist for Education and Training as we strive to develop innovative ways of providing efficient and high quality training and support to enable our workforce to provide the best possible care for our patients.
In addition we are just embarking on the initial stages of the workforce arm of our Nottinghamshire ICS Integrating NHS Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation (IPMO) programme. The post holder will play a key role in engaging with local and regional partners and ensure national standards and legislative requirements are considered within this key workstream.
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the UK’s largest and busiest acute teaching hospital Trusts. We have achieved a national and international reputation for many of our specialist services including stroke, renal, neurosciences, cancer services and trauma and are at the forefront of many research programmes. The Pharmacy & Medicines Optimisation department provides a wide range of specialist pharmaceutical and clinical services across the two main sites of Queens Medical Centre and the City Hospital.
As a teaching trust we have a strong relationship with our colleagues at the University of Nottingham and other universities across the East Midlands. We play a vital role in the education and training of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, not to mention pharmacy students.

The post holder will also partake in operational pharmacy duties including full participation in the 7 day shifted working rota and bank holidays and be able to work flexibly depending on service needs.
