VGC Looking for Site Engineer at Barnsley, South Yorkshire Full Time

Site Engineer
Four month contract with the possibility of extension
£350 – 400 per day (working inside of IR35)
Located in Sheffield

My client is looking for two Site Engineer’s/Setting out Engineer’s to join the site team located in Sheffield on a temporary basis to assist with the ongoing site works.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Setting out using total stations, GPS equipment, and to be able to undertake traditional setting out using profiles, batter rail and pegs
• Be experienced and competent with the setting out equipment for roads / footpaths or similar heavy civil projects
• Undertake basic take-off
• Raising technical queries with designers and other members of the client team
• Carry out relevant inspections and testing to ensure conformance of the works with the design and specification
• Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures
• Read and review construction drawings
• Capable of setting out to exact drawing specifications
• Ensure work is executed in a safe manner meeting legal guidelines set out in health safety and requirements and environmental compliance
• Safety / Quality / Programme and Production
• Manage site activities to ensure work is completed on time and within budget
• Review Method Statements and Risk Assessments and make improvements as appropriate;
• Deliver end product to customer satisfaction
• Implement appropriate policies and procedures
• Promote best practice amongst engineering staff and encourage their career progression
• Develop the directly employed labour including, supervision, appraisals, training, absence management and motivation
• Ensure works are completed on time, within budget and to specification

REQUIREMENTS:

• Be experienced and competent with the setting out equipment
• Proven track record as a Setting out / Site Engineer working in similar positions
• Previous experience working on heavy civil based projects
• Ensure compliance with designs
• Good knowledge of specifications and testing regimes relevant to general civil engineering
• Have the required training and experience to resolve typical site based issues
• Be able to work as part of a site team
• Have a CSCS qualification specific to the works will be undertaking
• Capable of setting out to exact drawing specifications
• Responsible for setting out and Levelling off the site: Producing QA reports and leasing with the sub-contractors
