4 Seasons Marine Hiring for Deckhand/Narrator at Skagway, Alaska Full Time

4 Seasons Marine is looking for a full-time seasonal Deckhand/Narrator. The company operates 3 high-speed ferries that service Haines and Skagway in S.E. Alaska.

All Skagway-based vessels are rated to carry up to 172-passengers, and they typically operate with a 3-person crew: a captain, a lead deckhand, a naturalist/Deckhand.  The employee must be able to relocate to Skagway, AK and complete the end of the season – Apr 25 thru Sept 28th.

The employee will be provided with employee housing at a reasonable daily rate. Roughly $350 per month with a private bedroom and shared kitchen/bath.

This one unique position is made up of a combination of two engaging sets of duties:

Deckhand: Requires basic seamanship skills. Interact with passengers and perform customer service duties. Provide for passenger safety while underway and maintain impeccably clean vessel at all times. Must be able to work as a team member and be comfortable interacting with guests. Must be physically able to step on and off the vessel during docking procedures.

Naturalist:
Requires public speaking ability and experience using PA systems. Develop tour narrative and conduct natural history presentations for groups of up to 140 passengers. Assist passengers boarding & disembarking; provide safety and emergency orientation, and work as a team member to distribute snacks and maintain impeccably clean vessel at all times. Biology and natural history background a plus.
