Position Summary ​

An Associate Planner manages the supply planning of all import goods for a given category. They determine the flow, frequency, gross margin, and weeks of supply (WOS) of goods to buy through an extensive analysis of inventory on hand, vendor on hand, on order, and forecasted rate of sale. They ensure that inventory is here at the right time by taking into account multiple factors such as lead times, water time, and factory minimum order quantities (MOQ). They make important monetary decisions on behalf of the organization by choosing how much to buy, what to buy, when to buy, and where to send it to. Additionally they decide what size containers to flow, what contract rates each container is shipped against, and what specific goods are bought based on the open to buy dollars.

Position Description

Essential Responsibilities

• Reviews all incoming containers and analyzes if containers should be redirected or split based on forecast and current WOS at each DC. If a split is needed then a further analysis is done to determine what quantities need to go to each DC while keeping in mind in stock % and WOS target. (15% of time)
• Manages all of Living Spaces import inventory by determining frequency of flow, quantities, mixability, and destination while taking into account factory demands such as MOQ’s and lead times.
• In addition to managing Living Spaces inventory also manages vendor 30% domestic inventory. Reviews quantities and timeliness on when the vendor is bringing in the back-up inventory. Reviews vendor flow with Living Spaces direct container orders so both parties are maintaining a good inventory position at all times.
• Constantly making independent decisions on when to buy more or less of an item in order to meet an MOQ issue, fill empty space in a container, or a new collection not forecasted yet on actual sales.
• Reviews stocking position to catch times where inventory may be heavy or light. Suggests to buying team whether to roll out to more doors or remove from web/stores to help maintain a good stocking position.
• Responsible for allocation of import ratio to ensure gross margin targets are met.
• Strategically evaluates what cost is beneficial for the organization by choosing between size of containers to flow.
• Directs booking agent to book all containers on a vessel through Living Spaces direct carrier contracts by selecting the proper sailing schedule that works with Living Spaces flow of inventory. When appropriate, advises what containers are priorities and what actions are needed. Determines what containers need to be shipped at higher rates than others.
• Involved in monthly business reviews with VP, Buyer, and Planners to discuss current state of business as well as future opportunities.
• Identifies items that are not beneficial for Living Spaces to carry due to the high cost incurred from the difficulty to flow select product.
• Key in PO’s through a mass upload template
• Revising PO’s in the system when a vendor revises cubes
