Hiring for Technical Designer Men’s and Women’s at New York, New York Full Time

Fast growing men’s and women’s apparel company just celebrating its fifth year anniversary is looking for a detail oriented Tech Designer with predominantly men’s but some women’s experience. Must be good natured, positive and flexible. We are looking for a TD who is a good fit. The position will be freelance for 30-60 days and will transition into permanent role if the individual fits talents fit our culture and needs. 

• Partner design team to develop initial specs for each new season
• Create initial specification sheet to accompany tech pack
• Work with production teams to prioritize fit samples by delivery or importance for each fitting
• Lead weekly fittings and send comments for corrections and approvals
• Send fit comments based on fittings and provide detailed instructions on corrections for next fit sample and production 
• Provide clear and detailed grades for production 
• Ensure all make details are produced as per development package
• Review all fit samples against development package to ensure all specs and construction details are followed correctly
• Use flat sketches and digital photo images as necessary to communicate corrections to a garment or pattern
• Make pattern corrections to vendors’ patterns as necessary
• Enforce company grade rules and tolerances
• Establish fit consistency within each brand and across vendors

Position Requirements:

• BA in fashion design or related field
• Excellent understanding of Gmail and google drive. 
• Pattern making knowledge
• Well versed in understanding of grades for both men’s and women’s. 
• Knowledge of fabrics, trims and sewing operations associated with standard product types
• Product development and manufacturing experience with offshore manufacturer, domestic importing and/or foreign trading companies
• Flexible, organized, team player and extremely detail oriented 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Computer skills (Excel, Illustrator and PLM)’
