We are in search of a Snr/Fullstack Software Engineer to join our Engineering team, reporting to the Engineering Manager. This role is for the curious, problem solving, lifelong learner who is comfortable in and has a passion for creating beautiful client-side experiences.

THE ROLE:

As a Fullstack Software Engineer you will contribute to the development of the Teach Starter website as well as various other widgets, publishing tools, and portals that we maintain. If you love working in Vue.js + Nuxt.js (or similar) for frontend, and also Node.js microservices, all while building a product you believe in, then we’d love to speak with you.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with a small and nimble team of Brisbane-based engineers to design, build, and maintain a new platform which will scale to support Teach Starter’s strategy and rapid growth.
• Work closely with Product, UX, Analytics, and Marketing counterparts to understand teacher problems and in turn build and deliver purposeful technical solutions which meaningfully address teacher needs.
• Utilize a wide range of technologies, including, JavaScript, Node.js, Vue.js, Nuxt.js to craft a scalable and performant platform for our product experiences.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of Teach Starter’s development and coding standards to ensure that the deployed code is reliable, secure, and maintainable.
• Take part in code reviews and share knowledge with the rest of the team to support an environment of continuous learning.
• Be mindful of new tools, technologies, and frameworks to help scale our stack and help us achieve our goals more efficiently.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Developed skills with a range of programming languages and frameworks, including JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, Vue.js, and Nuxt.js (or similar).
• Extensive experience with HTML, CSS, and cross-browser development.
• Interest in crafting frontend experiences with performance, accessibility and API design in mind.
• 3+ years of commercial experience developing complex web applications.
• Experience in both frontend and backend.
• Previous experience in PHP/WordPress would be beneficial as that is the base of our legacy stack.
• Attention to detail when implementing UI mock-ups produced by our amazing design team.
• Experience in debugging of issues, identification of faults, and implementation of monitoring and alerting systems.
• Solid understanding of version control (Git), branching strategies, and Pull Requests.
