Globe 24-7 in partnership with Newcrest Mining, is working together to source experienced and qualified talent to join their Reliability & Compliance Department. This position will be based in Newcrest’s Brisbane office and will support the Lihir Gold Operations (LGO) in Papua New Guinea.

The Role:

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Business Analyst to work with our highly motivated team in a fast paced, challenging and complex environment. The successful candidate will be responsible to support the Lihir Principal – Asset Management with driving data-driven improvement outcomes for asset management at the Lihir Mine through direct daily engagement with maintenance execution resources and the associated processes.

To support driving these outcomes, strong capability in mining asset management and ability to engage robustly with all seniority levels across the business are essential. It is expected that the Senior Business Analyst, as part of the Maintenance Control Room (MCR) team will have a proven track record of business process improvement, problem-solving capability, analytics experience, SAP data interrogation and financial/commercial management in the asset management space for mining operations.

Role accountabilities include:

• Ensuring all legislative, company and personal HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) systems, plans and requirements are met.
• Planning all work so that it can be conducted safely; and considers environmental conditions, nearby activities, and the people and other resources need to complete the work.
• Interrogating SAP data to identify maintenance activities resulting in waste, misalignment against the Newcrest Maintenance Business Process guidelines and value adding initiatives through highly developed analytics and stakeholder engagement.
• Delivering Management of Change for the adoption of business rules as prescribed by the Lihir Maintenance Control Room for the CMMS across maintenance execution departments.
• Maintaining integrity of financial master data for maintenance execution budgets covering all asset and functional areas to deliver on business optimisation objectives and cost reduction initiatives.
• Facilitating cross functional problem-solving sessions, information exchange and business improvement workshops with key stakeholders leading the strategy formulation and justification, developing detailed business cases and business implementation plans for execution.
• Delivering effective, efficient and timely reporting for decision-making and performance management.
• Supporting the design of acceptable tolerance limits for performance targets and establishing Key Performance Indicators through the Maintenance Control Room for cost control, maintenance execution and continuous business improvement.
• Delivering and validating senior management level reporting for the Maintenance Control Room.
• Delivering key initiatives for asset maintenance in line with key milestones, scope and specific requirements as established by the Maintenance Control Room Principal.

Required qualifications, skills and experience:

• Tertiary qualified Bachelor; specialising in engineering, finance, economics, commercial or accounting discipline and/or senior technical tradesperson with asset management experience in mining.
• 7+ years of relevant work experience in mining asset management is essential.
• SAP training in asset management for mining is essential.
• Computer proficiency in MS Office suite.
• Relevant data analysis software systems interrogation and design skills are desirable i.e. Power BI, PowerApps, etc.
• Skills in agile methodology, business improvement to proactively monitor, measure and report on the key-value initiatives progress, issues, opportunities and risks are highly desirable.
• Skilled in data visualisation and targeted data communication with the ability to interpret and present data to executive management.
• Prior experience leading a team in a diverse cultural environment in a mining context is desirable.
• A proven track record for the delivery of project objectives and established targets is essential.
• Ability to translate complex information into strong, easily delivered messages, hence able to build trust and influence at all levels.
• Ability to think strategically and undertake complex and/or critical work without guidance.
• Dedication to developing team members through feedback, allocation of assignments / projects, coaching, mentoring and formal training to build capability & competence.

Mobilisation Requirements:

• Working from our Brisbane Office
• Occasional travel to Lihir, PNG may be required
• Ability to provide/obtain valid police clearance
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment
