The Opportunity
The Finance Department provides financial leadership, advice and support to the Corporation and assists with the delivery of Council’s Strategic plan through its four essential services: accounting services, corporate finance, procurement and revenue management. The department’s main deliverables include the audited financial statements, coordinating the annual business plan and budget, treasury and debt management, procurement administration and support, property tax revenue management, and water and wastewater revenue management.
The Revenue Customer Service Representative interacts with customers, providing them with information to address inquiries or concerns regarding billing, payments, services and/or account information. Responding promptly, the Revenue CSR assists customers with completing applications, locating and providing information, researching and offering alternative solutions, or resolving their concerns through the appropriate corrections or adjustments to the account, all in accordance with the corporation’s by-laws, guidelines and policies.
Administratively, the Revenue CSR maintains the customer master account information following standard policies and procedures. Records details of customers’ inquiries including comments and actions taken, maintains the customer information database by updating information in the billing system. Prepares any necessary changes or adjustments to the customer’s account, for approval by the Supervisor. Processes customer payments received as a result of the billing process, assists with the processing of all other payments related to the sale or issuance of permits, passes or tags. Applies and maintains the pre-authorized payment program, mortgage company payment plans and the collection functions.

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
Grade 12 High School Diploma
Completed or willing to complete the Municipal Tax Administration Program (MTAP) (3 units)
Completed or willing to complete the Municipal Administration Program (4 units)
Experience
Two (2) years of demonstrated experience in customer service within an office environment
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Good listening skills
Service oriented work ethic
Strong oral and written communication skills
Natural ability to establish rapport with customers
Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
Superior attention to detail, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Knowledge in the use of general office equipment and standard office software

Other Important Information
Location: City Hall, 70 Collier Street, Barrie, Ontario
(*Please note that some positions are currently working remotely due to the pandemic restrictions. The City is currently working on a post COVID-19 Workforce Strategy to be launched in early 2022.)
Hours: The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
Wage: This position is within the CUPE Local 2380 Bargaining Unit with the following pay level and 2021 pay range:
Pay Level: Level 4
Yearly Salary: $49,358.40 to $59,113.60 per year
Hourly Pay Rate: $27.12 to $32.48 per hour
Benefits: This position includes single health and dental benefits, prorated paid sick time based on the expected duration of employment, and prorated vacation time based on calendar year and in accordance with the Employment Standards Act .
