Cobham’s Special Mission business is expanding, and we are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic finance professional to join us, working alongside our engineering, operations, aircrews and management personnel in doing so. This is an exciting time for us, and we are looking for someone who has strong technical and commercial acumen to help us achieve our long-term plans. The Finance Officer will be an integral part of our finance team with day-to day responsibilities around analysing and managing costs and customer accounts. We are looking for someone who can support both the finance and wider management teams in providing insights and analysis whilst also focussing on necessary weekly and month end reporting functions.

As such the role will require accounting and financial skills with a strong focus on attention to detail as well as contributing to a collaborative, open and positive culture in a team environment that values and supports each other with a focus on work-life balance and priorities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Support to the finance team and wider Special Mission business in analysing current costs and revenues to understand drivers and identify opportunities for improvement
• Management of key financial systems and records including fixed assets, current and required purchasing of parts and other reporting for group and consolidation purposes
• Support through the month end and year end accounts and budgeting processes
• Assistance with customer billing and responding to any queries and discrepancies
• Reconciliation of invoices, customer statements, supplier statements, bank accounts, etc
• Analysis and reporting to assist in the financial evaluation of business cases for new business and wider opportunities
• Identify opportunities for system optimisation by reviewing and assessing processes and procedures and implement improvements
• Other ad-hoc reporting and analysis to further drive efficiencies and support the wider finance team in collectively managing goals and workloads together

Skills and experience:

• Bachelor of Commerce (or similar) and qualified Accountant (CPA or CA) or near qualified

• Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office tools required, including Excel for analysis and financial modelling purposes and PowerPoint/Word for presentations
• Knowledge or experience with various accounting systems including forecasting and reporting tools and platforms
• Experience in processing and analysing financial transactions within systems (e.g. accounts payable and receivable, general ledger and fixed assets
• Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining high attention to detail and personal ownership of tasks and responsibilities
• Demonstrated ability to analyse and understand data to evaluate key drivers and areas of focus and improvement
• Proven experience in collaborating and working with personnel at various levels

• Ability to solve problems using sound judgement and interpersonal skills
• Initiative and drive with the ability to work independently and part of a team
• Ability to embrace learning and development opportunities and adapt to change
