The GWRT Security Operations team manages the back-end functionality of various Capital Markets trading products. With a focus on post trade settlements involving both cash and security positions
The group is searching for a strong Full Stack Developer to join an ongoing project for a payment application process. Regulatory requirements and customizations will need to be added to the payments workflow. In addition, the candidate will also be given the opportunity to work on project leadership tasks. Whereupon he/she will be asked to operationalize the technical and managerial processes and undertake the development and maintenance of business support systems.

Typical Day as a Software Engineer would look like as follows:
Analyze business requirements and translate requirements into system and/or application design
Generate technical specifications to be used in building code and more importantly supporting components after implementation
Build modular and reusable code components that can be maintained by less experienced maintenance programmers.
Act as an expert technical resource for modeling, simulation and analysis
Leverage industry best practices
Assure quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area
Be flexible and thrive in an evolving environment
Initiate and monitor IST deployments using Jenkins automated build toolset
Other items that might be needed are:
Prepare UAT and PROD release procedures to be reviewed and approved by Change Management team
Implement PROD releases with adherence to mitigating risk and providing a correct contingency plan
Adapt to change quickly and adjust work accordingly in a positive manner
Coordinates communication with all areas of the enterprise that impacts the scope, budget, risk, of the work effort being managed.
Negotiates IT project requirements (i.e. deadlines, budgets, resources, etc.).
Builds and maintains solid, professional working relationships with peers within the project management and business lines.
Meets scheduled milestones to ensure project/program objectives are met in a timely manner, has an in-depth knowledge of the principles, theories, practices and techniques for managing the activities related to planning, managing and implementing software solutions.
The incumbent will be working in normal business conditions. Travelling to meetings may extend to other buildings off premises or to vendor sites.
Off hours work is expected in the delivery aspects of the role to support releases.
Travelling by air or rail outside of province can occur; destinations include other Canadian Provinces and various International locations. These trips tend to be less than two weeks in nature and will comprise of no more than 10% of time per annum overall.
Qualifications for this role are:
5 + years’ server-side development with Java (min 1 year with Java 1.8) and Spring framework
2 + years’ Extract, Transact and Load databases with Oracle languages (SQL)
2 + years’ front-end development with HTML, CSS, JavaScript
2 + years’ recent project exposure to REST services
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
Nice-To-Have Skills:
Previous Securities Operations experience is a plus
Previous Microservice projects is a plus and will be prioritized
Oracle SQL and database performance tuning experience
UI development using server-side java
