Reporting to the Head of Carbon Management, the purpose of the Specialist Carbon Management is to provide technical expertise in the analysis and improvement of climate-related data for BHP. This role involves engagement with a broad range of both internal and external stakeholders and will support engagement with international standard setters and industry peers.
This role will maintain operational and value chain greenhouse gas emissions data for reporting purposes, and undertake annual consolidation of data and forecasts, including development of guidance for internal and external stakeholders. A key accountability of this role is to undertake regular analysis and review of operational greenhouse gas emissions data and forecasts, particularly including analysis of progress against public targets and goals, and development of estimates for carbon offset requirements.
Additional accountabilities include:
You will have a deep technical understanding of greenhouse gas accounting practice and its application to meet internal and external requirements. You have strong analytical skills and enjoy creating insights, informing development of Company-wide targets and goals, interpreting the data and related targets of others (including competitor companies) and supporting senior stakeholder review of performance, including the Executive Leadership Team and BHP’s Board.
You have a science, finance or engineering tertiary qualification and have a natural ability to work with with subject matter experts to understand, synthesise and communicate technical material. You have an in-depth understanding of data visualisation and analysis tools (e.g. Power BI, Spotfire) or willingness to learn.
You are innovative, collaborative, have a strong numerical and analytical capability who relates well with people and have an engaging style allowing you to effectively engagement with senior business stakeholders. As the successful candidate you will have an understanding or a willingness to learn BHP processes, systems, climate commitments.
